Faculty

Our faculty and staff have been carefully selected to represent a diverse array of backgrounds and educational experience, as well as a sincere love for our students and a passion for preschool. Our teachers work collaboratively with our director to carry out curriculum that is creative, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for our students.

 

EmeliaAnnie Liu

Director of Operations

Annie grew up in the Bay Area, and after spending some time on the East Coast, has returned to the Bay Area in recent years. Annie has always been passionate about early childhood education, and has worked in a variety of preschool classrooms as a lead teacher. She has a diverse background managing education programs focused on promoting language and literacy skills in children, supporting child development, and providing parenting support.  Most recently, Annie worked for the City and County of San Francisco in close collaboration with the San Francisco Unified School District, to promote financial literacy and college readiness for elementary school children.  Her education background includes a Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University and a B.A. in Human Development and Psychology from Northwestern University with coursework focused on child development. In addition, Annie has a Child Development Program Director Permit.

Stefanie Stoddard

Director of Education

Stefanie Stoddard has been an Early Childhood Educator since 1999, with the majority of her practice taking place in the San Francisco Bay area. Since 2004, Stef has been a fixture at Calvary Nursery School as the Head Pre-K Teacher, Professional Development Coordinator, and most recently, Head Mentor Teacher of the school. She has been a Mentor Teacher for the State of California and an adjunct professor at San Francisco State University. Stef holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies and Creative Arts from San Francisco State University, and a Masters of Arts in Early Childhood Education. She reveres continuing education and professional development for educators among one of the most important parts of the educational system and has dedicated her time to mentoring new teachers as well as continuing to evolve as a practitioner in the field. A Bay Area Native, Stef can be found at an A’s or Raiders games in her free time, as well as enjoying all the live music that the city has to offer.

 

Alta Altansukh

Prep Assistant Teacher

Alta is currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. Originally from Mongolia, Alta joined the Peekadoodle team in 2012. It was during her time working at Peekadoodle, that Alta uncovered her passion for preschool, and has now committed to a career in early childhood education. When not in the classroom, Alta enjoys walking the city and exploring with her 5 year old brother.

 

Ari Aiken

Academy Assistant Teacher

A San Francisco native from the Richmond District, Ari earned a degree in Child Development from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and is now pursuing a master’s degree in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. She is passionate about providing quality care and support for children and families, and is committed to furthering her credential. In her free time, Ari loves to cook and spend time in the outdoors.

 

Anna Zough

Academy Assistant Teacher

Anna graduated from Mills College with a degree in Psychology and has since discovered her love of working with children. She has taught dance and creative movement to preschool and early elementary age kids and loved being able to watch as her dancers were able to find their own voice through movement. Anna continues her early childhood education and is excited to be in the classroom at Peekadoodle!

 

Christine Maltez

Academy Teacher

Christine has always loved working with young children and has wanted to teach even from a very young age. She received a B.A. in Liberal Studies and a minor in Geography, with an emphasis on sustainable ag from San Francisco State University. Christine has previous experience as a teacher’s assistant and later as a tutor at a math and reading program, before becoming a manager at a children’s bookstore. With a love for children’s literature and working around preschool age children, Peekadoodle is the perfect place for Christine.

 

Christine Bazouzi

Office Coordinator

Christine is a San Francisco native who has worked with children as a lead after-school tutor for public school students. Christine is currently in her last quarter at SF State finishing a degree in Architecture. With her interest and talent in art and design, she first joined Peekadoodle as a Party Assistant. Prior to Peekadoodle she was also a receptionist at Family Room Acupuncture in Pacifica where she discovered her interest in customer service and providing hospitality to clients. Combining her passion of design and child care, her warm and caring persona continues to give a helping hand here at Peekadoodle to support both our Prep and Academy preschool programs.

 

Daisy O’Leary

Academy Assistant Teacher

Daisy was born and raised in Mill Valley and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a BA in Psychology. Her interest lies in raising awareness about the importance of mental health, especially in children. While in Boulder, Daisy worked with a foundation focused on promoting the values of higher education to underserved youth in the greater Denver area. Upon returning to the Bay Area, Daisy has set her sights on obtaining a masters degree and continuing to pursue her passion of working with children and acting as a positive role model and outlet for mental support. When not in the classroom, Daisy is a bookworm who loves to cook, read, and spend time with friends and family.

Delaney Jimenez

Academy Assistant Teacher

Delaney is a graduate of San Francisco State University, where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis on children and families. After working at a literacy program for preschoolers, Jumpstart, Delaney’s passion for child care lead her to join the Peekadoodle team where she is an assistant teacher. She looks forward to extending her career within early childhood education and become a lead teacher one day.

 

Elizabeth Sweetbaum

Academy Assistant Teacher

Lizzy has always had a heart for children, and worked as a counselor for 6 years in the Rocky Mountains before heading to the University of Arizona to complete her undergraduate degree in Journalism. After a spontaneous move to San Francisco, Lizzy found her home as the lead teacher of Peekadoodle’s enrichment program. Most recently, she has transitioned her role to being an Academy Teacher and is loving it. Her friendly demeanor and ability to instantly connect with both little ones and their grown ups makes Lizzy a perfect fit for guiding families through their experience at Peekadoodle.

Frances

Frances Perdices

Academy Lead Teacher

Frances acquired a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and taught ESL / TESOL to students of all ages and nationalities. Her teaching experience allowed her to determine that her passion for  teaching is specifically focused on Early Childhood Education. To  hone her craft and further her education, Frances attended the Montessori Teachers Education Center before becoming a lead teacher in a preschool classroom, and has been teaching preschool for over 8 years. Frances brings to the classroom a sense of curiosity and excitement for learning new skills!

Katy Chan

Prep Assistant Teacher

Katy is a proud native of San Francisco. Her past work experience as a preschool teacher’s aide has inspired her to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. She finds working with children especially fulfilling and rewarding, which has led her to further her education in early childhood. When not in the classroom, Katy enjoys reading, cooking, and travelling.

Maria Taylor

Academy Lead Teacher

Maria is a Bay Area native who grew up in San Francisco and the East Bay. She has over six year experience working in the early childhood field as an assistant teacher, mentor teacher and head teacher, mostly working with 4 and 5 year olds. Maria has a passion for and background in arts integration and tools to use art as a major learning tool in the classroom for all age groups. Her love for art and love for the early childhood field is continually growing as she continues her education and work in the field. She is currently working towards a degree in Early Childhood and is also working with the Alameda Unified School District to become an integrated learning specialist. Most recently, Maria worked at Phoebe Hearst Preschool as their lead teacher in the two year old classroom.

Mayra Perez

Prep Assistant Teacher

Mayra was born and raised in San Francisco, and is currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. She has found that her greatest joy is in witnessing the development of children, and she is excited about her pursuit of a career in preschool education. Her past work experience includes working with toddlers, one of her favorite age groups. As a native of the city, Mayra always enjoys a good (cold) Giants game as often as possible, and challenges herself to continually take on new adventures.

Paty

Paty Hernandez

Academy Lead Teacher

Paty was born and raised in Gilroy, CA and moved to San Francisco in 2010 to attend San Francisco State University. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Family and Consumer Studies with an emphasis in children and families. Working with children has been Paty’s passion and she has always been committed to a career in early childhood education. When not working with kids, Paty enjoys exploring the city, stretching her legs on long runs, hiking the area’s amazing trails, and spending time with her family.

 

Rachel LeMay

Extended Care Teacher

Rachel earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University, and has been in the field of Education for over 7 years. She has experience working with multiple age groups that range from preschool to middle school, in the classroom, as well as various non-profit outreach programs. Her philosophy to teaching is that children need to feel valued and accepted for their own uniqueness early on to help them build self-esteem and blossom into confident, self-assured individuals. When she’s not spending time with the kiddos, Rachel loves to sing karaoke, travel, cook, read, and get out into nature as much as possible.

SarahSarah Hausman

Academy Teacher

Sarah was born and raised in the Bay Area and graduated with honors from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Psychology. She has worked as a behavioral therapist, a speech and language assistant, and an after school program lead at an all girls school in San Francisco, and is now pursuing a master’s degree in marriage, child, and family therapy (MFT) at University of San Francisco. At Peekadoodle, Sarah works with preschoolers of all ages. She loves exploring the city and traveling the rest of California with friends and family!

 

SarahSarah Torres

Academy Lead Teacher

Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Pathology and has over 10 years of experience working with children of various ages in summer camps and preschool settings.  Inspired by her younger sister to enter the field of Early Childhood Education, Sarah has found that educating children is her true passion.  As a teacher, Sarah incorporates her background in dance and love of nature into the classroom.

 

Stephanie SStephanie Salumbides

Academy Lead Teacher and Mentor Program Supervisor

Stephanie earned her bachelors degree in Liberal Studies and History and discovered her passion for teaching during a student-teaching opportunity in a preschool classroom. Since then, she has been fortunate enough to travel and teach throughout the world including Canada, the Philippines, and Oahu. Stephanie has been at Peekadoodle since 2012, and in her time here has worked as a teacher in both our Prep and Academy classrooms. As the Mentor Program Supervisor, Stephanie helps train new teachers and provides them instructional support in the classroom.

 

Tiva Samaru

Music Teacher

Tiva Lee Samaru is an Entrepreneur, Educator, Actress, Dancer, Playwright, Singer/Songwriter, Producer and Upcoming Author. Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago she has sung in choirs, danced and produced her own dance troupes, performed in music ensembles and starred in many modeling, film, tv, radio and theater productions. She has also been featured in well known newspapers, magazines and publications in several countries.

Tiva formally pursued studies in Performance Art at HB Studios in New York and also holds two degrees in Hospitality and Tourism Management. A former Miss Teen Trinidad & Tobago, Miss Trinidad & Tobago and Miss Tourism Trinidad & Tobago, she is a trained alto singer and multi instrumentalist. In her role as an educator Tiva has taught a variety of classes in several countries to children, adults and person with special needs. Here in San Francisco she has led popular classes for young children at JAMaROO Kids, the Children’s Creativity Museum and San Francisco Recreation and Parks. Now you can find her entertaining and educating little ones at Calvary Presbyterian Church, several Bay Area preschools/daycares and Peekadoodle Kids Club!
